Welcome to Girton College Boat Club!

Whether you are a current student of the college, one of our alumni, or just browsing, this is the site for all your Girton rowing needs!

One of the oldest Women's boat clubs on the river Cam, GCBC has a flourishing men and women's squad and provides a fun, friendly and inclusive place to row whether you are new to the sport or want to continue rowing whilst at University. The club has a strong history of producing trialists for CUBC, CULRC and CUWBC and members of the club have regularly represented Cambridge in both the Lightweight and Women's blue boats. Large numbers of these trialists have never rowed or coxed before coming up to Cambridge.

Interested in rowing with GCBC?

GCBC puts out large numbers of men's and women's boats in the three major University competitions, Fairbairns, Lent Bumps and May Bumps. Whilst our 1st Boats on the Men and Women's side do take their training (and socializing) very seriously, our other Senior boats and our Novice boats cater for various levels of experience, commitment and fitness. Put simply- if you are keen to give rowing a try, or to step back into a boat after a period away from the sport, or a Junior international rower who has somehow ended up at the college (probably) furthest away from the river*, then we have a boat for you.

Experienced rowers (and coxes!) interested in joining the club should contact:
Acting Men's Captain: Matt Tovey (email: mnt23)
Women's Captain: Hannah Sensecall (email: hls45)
(add @cam.ac.uk)

Information on our Men's and Women's squads can be found here

Beginners should contact our LBCs, Owen, Matt, Alex and Jonathan. More information on our Novice program and contact details for LBCs can be found here

Any clubs or societies who wish to enter a boat en-mass (following the success of the Rugby Boat 2007) please contact the LBCs.

*If you are a senior international at Girton, where have you been hiding! Get over to the University boat clubs immediately.

Results

2008 has already seen strong performances from the Men's squad, and a valiant effort from the Women's squad after many rowers left the club last year. More information on our results can be found here

Alumni:

We always like to see old members of the club, and have our own alumni boat club- the Infidels.
